Tamworth

Hi and welcome to Tamworth and Singleton areas.  We currently don’t have a Coordinator for this area, so please contact the National Office on 1800 037 674 to find out what is happening and to go on to the mailing list.  Our group covers families living in the Tamworth, Mussellbrook, Armidale areas and Singleton.

Tamworth is the home of the Australian Country Musical Festival held each year in January. We are about a 5 hour drive to Sydney and about a 6 hour drive to Brisbane.  Our major Defence establishments are the 12th/16th Hunter River Lancers, Australian Defence Force Pilot Selection Agency and ADF Basic Flying Training School.

For more information about the Tamworth region, have a look at the handy Your Community section on the Defence Community Organisation website.  If you are interested in attending upcoming Defence Community Organisation events in your area, please visit the Events page.  You can also find comprehensive resources available for download from the Resources page.

Singleton is located in the heart of the Hunter Valley and is just over an hour from Newcastle and 2.5 hours from Sydney.  The major Defence establishment at Singleton is Lone Pine Barracks.

Families with special needs posting into either area need to be aware that resources, services and support for their special needs maybe limited. It is recommended that you put in place a Posting Plan with the DSNSG National Coordinator or contact the National Office on 1800 037 674  if you are considering a posting to this location.

Please call 1800 037 674 or email  to find out what else we are doing and to go on our mailing list so you can have access to the wider support, information and assistance that is available throughout our network.
