Woodside

Hi and welcome to Woodside.  My name is Samantha Jones and I am the Defence Special Needs Support Group Local Coordinator for the Adelaide and Woodside region.

Woodside is a small town in the Adelaide Hills and is approximately 45 minutes from Adelaide.  The major Defence establishment in the area is Woodside Barracks.  The Base was originally established in 1927 and was used for the training of light horse and  infantry units.  During the Second World War, battalions of the Second  Australian Military Force were formed.  The Base also provided temporary accommodation for US Forces.  Woodside Barracks is now the home of the 16 Air Defence Regiment.

For families posted into the Woodside area, services and supports can be limited depending on where you choose your Service Residence.  For more information, please give us a call.

Our group holds regular coffee mornings and family events and by linking in to us, you have access to the wider support, information and assistance that is available throughout our network.

For more information about the Woodside region, have a look at the handy Your Community section on the Defence Community Organisation website.  If you are interested in attending upcoming Defence Community Organisation events in your area, please visit the Events page.  You can also find comprehensive resources available for download from the Resources page.

Please call me on 0430 304 998 or email me to find out what else we are doing and to go on our mailing list.
